BBC Perfume Documentary + Aftelier Draw Winner

Some of you may remember that a few months ago I wrote about being interviewed for a three-part BBC documentary about perfume, directed by Ian Denyer. Well, I'm pleased to report that episode 1 should be broadcast on BBC Four in the last week of June; I'll post further details as soon as I get them. The bad news is that my contribution has ended up on the cutting room, but never mind. From what I've heard, the three films will provide an incredible peek into the workings of the perfume industry and I'm very much looking forward to seeing them.

Changing the subject, please click here to be taken to my recent Basenotes article about a Gorilla Perfumes event in London. And speaking of articles on other sites, thanks very much indeed to all of you who left comments on my Penhaligon's article. I sincerely appreciate your support.

And finally... the winner of the draw for six samples of Aftelier fragrances is

Sal - Plush Folly

Congratulations! Please send your address to persolaise at gmail dot com as soon as possible so I can arrange for your prize to be posted to you.

Thanks very much indeed to everyone who entered and shared several wonderful travel stories. I'd also like to thank Ronny Geller of Scent & Sensibility once more for providing the prize.

Please come back on Tuesday to find out who my next (and final) guest blogger is going to be. I daresay she's a writer known to most (if not all) of you, and she's chosen to set her sights on the issue of perfume marketing.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Persolaise.

  1. Ooh, I hope it's Tania Sanchez!

Sal- Plush Folly, you are in for a real treat. Enjoy your Aftelier samples!

Persolaise: I'm very bummed that your scene got cut from the documentary, but that definitely doesn't stop me from wanting to find some way to see it. I can only hope BBC America will have it at some point, but we seem to be getting a lot of new British comedies lately and another American network has taken all the documentaries that used to be on.

  2. Carrie, what will you say if it turns out not to be Tania Sanchez?

I have no idea if the documentary is going to be sold to any foreign countries. I guess a great deal will depend on how successful its UK broadcast will be.

  3. Well, of course you know that no matter who it is, I'll read eagerly. My Spidey-sense is tingling though, just have a feeling it's Tania. However, that same Spidey-sense has let me down before, you just can't trust faux-superhero powers these days, can you?
